Bu ayki sayımızda, merkezi Milwaukee, Wisconsin’de bulunan, yaklaşık 23 bin çalışanı ile 80’den fazla ülkede müşterilerine hizmet veren ve 93 yılından bu yana Türkiye’de de faaliyet gösteren Rockwell AutomationTürkiye Ülke Direktörü Ediz Eren’i ziyaret ettik. 

Dünyanın sadece endüstriyel otomasyon ve bilgiye odaklı en büyük şirketi Rockwell Automation, globalde uygulanan Tek Distribütör (Limited Distributor) modelini Türkiye’de de uygulamaya başladı. Rockwell Automation son olarak Market Otomasyon ile tek distribütörlük anlaşması imzaladı. Bu kapsamda Market Otomasyon ile birlikte Ege, Akdeniz ve İç Anadolu bölgelerinde satış ofisleri açılacak. Bu yıl içerisinde Bursa, İstanbul ve İzmir’de yeni satış ofisleri açılacak. 2022 yılının sonuna kadar ise Ankara, Konya ve Gaziantep illerinde de Market Otomasyon tarafından açılan satış ofisleri eklenmesi hedefleniyor. Özellikle Ege, Akdeniz ve İç Anadolu bölgelerinde hızlı bir büyüme gerçekleştirmek gayesinde olan Rockwell Automation Türkiye Ülke Direktörü Ediz Eren ile keyifli bir söyleşi gerçekleştirdik. In this issue, we visited Ediz Erener, Turkey Country Director  of Rockwell Automation that has centre in  Milwaukee, Wisconsin,  serve to it’s customers in more than 80 countries with 23 thousand employees and has been active in Turkey since 93 years.

Rockwell Automation which is the world’s largest company focused solely on industrial automation and information, began to practice  single Distributor (Limited Distributor) model that is applied in global, in Turkey. Rockwell Automation recently signed a single distributorship agreement with Market Otomasyon. In this context, sales offices will be opened in Aegean, Mediterranean and Central Anatolia regions together with Market Automation this year, and until the end of 2022 it is aimed to add sales offices that will be opened by Market Otomasyon in Ankara, Konya and Gaziantep. We had a pleasant conversation with Rockwell Automation Country Director Ediz Eren who has the aim  of achieving rapid growth especially in Aegean, Mediterranean and  Central Anatolia region. Here are those reflected from this interview to our lines.

Ediz bey merhaba, öncelikle sizi tanıyabilir miyiz?

2002 yılında İstanbul Teknik Üniversitesi Elektronik ve Haberleşme Mühendisliği’nden mezun oldum. Assan Alüminyum’da yedi yıllık bakım yönetimi deneyimimin ardından 2011 yılında Son Kullanıcı Satış Yöneticisi olarak Rockwell Automation’a katıldım. Ardından Servis ve Destek Müdürlüğüne terfi ettim. Şu an Rockwell Automation Türkiye Ülke Direktörü olarak görevimi sürdürmekteyim.

Hello Mr. Ediz, can we get to know you first?

In 2002, I graduated from Istanbul Technical University Electronics and Communication Engineering. After seven years of maintenance management experience at Assan Aluminum, I joined Rockwell Automation in 2011 as End User Sales Manager. Then I was promoted to Service and Support Managment. Now, I continue my job as Rockwell Automation Turkey Country Director.

Rockwell Automation olarak, müşterilerini daha üretken ve dünyayı daha sürdürülebilir kılan, dünyanın kendini endüstriyel otomasyona ve bilgiye adamış en büyük şirketiyiz. Merkezi Milwaukee, Wisconsin’de bulunan Rockwell Automation, yaklaşık 23 bin çalışanı ile 80’den fazla ülkede müşterilerine hizmet veriyor. 1993 yılından bu yana ise Rockwell Automation Türkiye ofisi olarak Türkiye’de faaliyet göstermekteyiz. Türkiye’de İstanbul merkez ofisimiz ile projelerimizde, müşterilerimizin ihtiyaçlarına global organizasyon ve tecrübemiz ile otomasyon ve bilgi odaklı her türlü çözümü sunmaktayız. Can you provide information about the activity areas and organizational structure of Turkey Rockwell Automation?

As Rockwell Automation, we are the world’s largest company dedicated to industrial automation and knowledge, making its customers more productive and making the world more sustainable., Rockwell Automation whose headquarters is in Milwaukee, Wisconsin,  serves customers in more than 80 countries with approximately 23,000 employees. Since 1993, as Rockwell Automation Turkey Office, we have been operating in Turkey. With our Istanbul / Turkey Center Office, in our projects we offer all kinds of solutions to our customers’ needs as automation and information-driven by the means of our global organization and  experience. We are in  a condition that is able to respond to our customer’s all supports and requests in order to ensure effective sustainability of their manufacturing and process industries by using our global knowledge based on experience and information in the most effective way, also in Turkish market. With our centuries-old experience in the aforementioned issues, we submit industrial automation and control equipment, systems used in all industrial areas; software, engineering, commissioning and training services alltogether by providing solutions to end users, engineering and contracting companies, machinery and equipment manufacturers.

Sektörde müşterilerinize verdiğiniz hizmetleriniz nelerdir?

Rockwell Automation, müşterilerinin talepleri doğrultusunda en küçük komponentten, komple bir bilgi ve otomasyon sistemi sunabilecek kadar sağlam bir pozisyonda bulunuyor. Sistemlerimizin genişletilebilir yetenekleri sayesinde müşterilerimizin maliyetlerini düşürerek pazardaki faaliyetlerine daha çok vakit ayırabilmelerini sağlıyoruz. Partnerlerimizle olan kuvvetli ilişkilerimiz, yerel servis ağımız ve global desteğimiz sayesinde ürün ve hizmetlerimizi müşterimizin ihtiyacı doğrultusunda şekillendirebiliyoruz.

What are the services that you provide to your customers in the sector?

Rockwell Automation is in a position which can provide a complete information and automation system from a smallest component in accordance with the demands of its customers. Thanks to the expandable capabilities of our systems, we enable our customers to spend more time on their activities in the market by reducing their costs. By the means of our strong relationships with our partners, our local service network and global support, we are able to tailor our products and services according to our customer’s needs.

Through  a wide range of products and systems solutions, that is from complete plant automation to management information systems, we offer solutions to virtually any industry in consumer product manufacturing and heavy industry. With main titles, in our products ranges there are; PLC and PAC (programmable automation controllers), Low Voltage AC / DC motor drives, Medium Voltage AC motor drives, servo motor drives, soft starter and intelligent motor control units, operator panels, motion controllers and servomotors, analytical control, monitoring and SCADA software, contactors, relays, sensors and similar control components, safety and vibration control monitoring systems.

Ürün ve hizmetleriniz yoğunluk olarak hangi sektörler tarafından tercih edilmektedir?

Otomasyon çözümleri portföyümüz genelinde hizmetlerimizi oluşturmak ve geliştirmek için çok çalışıyoruz. Bu daha çok pazarın ihtiyaçlarına karşılamaya yönelik olan bir çalışma, aynı zamanda yeni teknolojilerin gelişmesi ve mevcut teknolojilerle yakınlaşmasından doğan bir potansiyel.

Rockwell Automation için ideal ortam diye betimleyebileceğimiz şekilde tüm sektörler ve segmentler Türkiye’de mevcut. Çok sayıda küçük makineler üreten firmalardan, karmaşık makineler üreten şirketlere kadar geniş bir OEM topluluğu var. Son kullanıcı alanında, otomobil, lastik ve tüketim ürünlerinin yanı sıra madencilik gibi ağır sanayilerin de olduğu çeşitli bir kombinasyon. Ayrıca, devam etmekte olan birçok büyük altyapı projesi var. Tüm bu unsurlar da Türkiye pazarını bizim için son derece cazip hale getiriyor.

In which sectors are your products and services preferred?

We work hard to create and develop our services across our automation solutions portfolio. This is a work aimed to meet the needs of the market, but also the potential arising from the development and convergence of new technologies with existing technologies.

All the sectors and segments that we describe as the ideal environment for Rockwell Automation , present in Turkey. There is a wide range of OEMs from companies that produce a large number of small machines to companies that produce complex machines. It is a diverse combination, including heavy industries such as mining, as well as automobiles, tires and consumer products in the field of end-user. In addition, there are many major infrastructure projects in progress. All of these elements make Turkish market extremely attractive for us.

Günümüz teknolojisinin yeniliklerinden biri olan 4.0 teknoloji ile ilgili çalışmalarınız nelerdir?

Endüstri 4.0’ın en büyük amacı, birbirleriyle haberleşen, sensörlerle ortamı algılayabilen ve veri analitiği yaparak ihtiyaçları fark edebilen sistemlerin üretimi ve bu sistemlerin üretimi kısmen ya da tamamen devralıp daha kaliteli, daha ucuz ve daha hızlı üretim sistemlerinin oluşmasını sağlamaktır.  Üretimde verimlilik önemini devam ettirirken, kaliteli ürün üretimi de hayati önem taşıyor. Bu durum teknolojik ilerlemeyi, robotlaşma veya Endüstri 4.0 gibi yaklaşımları da beraberinde getiriyor. Rockwell Automation olarak, üretilen ürün çeşitliliği ve üretim miktarının artması, yeni ürünlerin hızlı bir şekilde piyasaya çıkarılması, üretim sürelerinin kısalması ve kalitenin artması gibi avantajlar sunuyoruz. Buradan hareketle firmaların da Endüstri 4.0 prensiplerini başarı ile uygulayabilmesi insan, teknoloji ve süreç unsurlarının tümünü göz önüne alan bir yaklaşımla mümkün ve uzun soluklu bir dönüşüm çabası gerektiriyor.

Müşterilerimize sağladığımız en büyük avantaj ise ölçeklendirilebilir çözüm sunabiliyor olmamız. Bugün birçok firma dijitalleşme ekiplerini kurmuş ve stratejilerini oluşturmak üzere çalışıyor. Bu firmaların önlerine çıkacak en büyük sorun ortaya çıkarılacak yol haritasındaki yüksek bütçeler ve bu bütçelerin onaylanması olacak. Biz bu sorunu görerek geliştirdiğimiz çözüm ile mütevazi bütçelerle pilot uygulamaların gerçekleştirilebilmesini sağlıyoruz. Daha sonra alınan yazılım paketine diğer sistemleri dahil etmek için herhangi bir ekstra yazılım maliyetine ihtiyaç duyulmuyor. Müşterilerimiz kendi mühendislik ekipleriyle diğer pilot uygulamalar ya da işletme genelini kapsayacak şekilde geliştirmeleri de kendileri yapabiliyor. Sözün özü, yapay zeka, analitik algoritma ya da artırılmış gerçeklik uygulamaları çok maliyetli dijitalleşme çözümleridir klişesini yıkıyoruz.

What are your works on 4.0 technology which is one of the innovations of today’s technology?

Industry 4.0’s main objective is the production of systems that communicate with each other, perceive the environment with sensors, and realize the needs by performing data analytics, and to ensure higher quality, cheaper and faster production systems  by taking over the production of these systems partially or completely. While productivity continues to be important in production, quality product production is also vital. This brings technological progress, robotization or Industry 4.0. At Rockwell Automation, we offer advantages such as increased product diversity and increased production volume, the rapid launch of new products, shortened production times and improved quality. From this point of view, the successful implementation of the principles of Industry 4.0 by companies, requires a possible and long-term transformation effort with an approach that takes into account all of the human, technology and process elements.

The biggest advantage that we provide to our customers is to offer a scalable solution. Today, many companies have established digitalization teams and work to form their strategies. The biggest challenge for these companies will be the high budgets on the roadmap and the approval of these budgets. With the solution that we develop by seeing this problem, we provide pilot projects with modest budgets. There is no need for any extra software costs to add other systems to the software package that was purchased. Our customers can also manage other pilot applications or overextendings for covering the entire enterprise with their own engineering teams. In essence, we break the stereotype ‘artificial intelligence, analytical algorithms or augmented reality applications are costly digitization solutions’.

Türkiye’de büyüme hızınız nedir?

Dünyanın sadece endüstriyel otomasyon ve bilgiye odaklı en büyük şirketi Rockwell Automation, globalde uygulanan Tek Distribütör (Limited Distributor) modelini Türkiye’de de uygulamaya başladı. Rockwell Automation olarak uzun süredir iş birliği yaptığımız Market Otomasyon ile tek distribütörlük anlaşması imzaladık. Bu kapsamda Market Otomasyon ile birlikte Ege, Akdeniz ve İç Anadolu bölgelerinde satış ofisleri açacağız. Bu anlaşma doğrultusunda Market Otomasyon ile birlikte Marmara Bölgesi dışında özellikle Anadolu’da büyüme hedefimiz bulunuyor. Market Otomasyon ile iş birliğimiz çerçevesinde bölge ofisi uygulamasına başlıyoruz. Bu yıl içerisinde Bursa, İstanbul ve İzmir’de yeni satış ofisleri açılacak. 2022 yılının sonuna kadar ise Ankara, Konya ve Gaziantep illerinde de Market Otomasyon tarafından açılan satış ofisleri ile var olacağız. Hedefimiz özellikle Ege, Akdeniz ve İç Anadolu bölgelerinde hızlı bir büyüme gerçekleştirmek.

Yakın geçmişe bakacak olursak son 10 yılda ülke ekonomik büyümesinin üzerinde rakamlarla büyüdük ve personel sayımızı 4 kat artırarak mevcut müşterilerimize daha geniş kapsamda hizmetler sunuyor ve yeni müşteri sayımızı da giderek arttırıyoruz.

What is your growth rate in Turkey?

Rockwell Automation, world’s largest company which solely focused on industrial automation and information, began to practice single Distributor (Limited Distributor) model which is applied in global, also in Turkey. As Rockwell Automation, we signed a single distributorship agreement with Market Automation, which we have been cooperating with for a long time. In this context, we will open sales offices in Aegean, Mediterranean and Central Anatolia regions together with Market Automation. In line with this agreement, we have the target of growing together with Market Automation, especially in Anatolia, outside the Marmara Region. Within the framework of our cooperation with Market Automation, we start to apply regional office. New sales offices will be opened this year in Bursa, Istanbul and Izmir. Until the end of 2022, we will be present in Ankara, Konya and Gaziantep with sales offices opened by Market Automation. Our goal is to achieve rapid growth especially in Aegean, Mediterranean and Central Anatolia regions.

If we look at the recent past, we have grown above the economic growth of the country in the last 10 years and we have increased the number of our employees by 4 times with a wider range of services to our existing customers and we are increasing the number of our new customers gradually.

Türkiye ekonomisinde yaşanan sıkıntıların size ve sektörünüze yansıması nasıl oldu?

Öncelikle ülkemizin ekonomisine ve sanayideki potansiyeline güven duyduğumuzu ve ekonomik sıkıntılar konusundaki geçmiş tecrübemizle bu dönemin kısa süreli olacağını biliyoruz. Globalde ve ülkemizde otomasyon ihtiyaçlarının giderek artacağını da öngörerek büyüme hedeflerimiz doğrultusunda yatırımlarımıza devam ediyoruz.

Ekonomik durumun sektörde önemli yansımaları olduğu kesin. Planlanan projelerin beklemeye alınması ya da kapsamlarının daraltılması en çok karşılaştığımız önlemler. Ancak geniş ürün ve müşteri portfoyümüz sayesinde özellikle ihracat yapan müşterilerimizdeki kur etkisiyle oluşan avantajın bize pozitif yansımaları ise hedeflerimize ulaşmamızdaki en önemli unsurdu.

How was the reflection of problems at Turkey’s economy to you and your sector?

First of all, we know that we trust our country’s economy and potential in industry and that this period will be short-term with our past experience on economic problems. We continue our investments in line with our growth targets, by anticipating that the needs of automation are increasing in the world and in our country.

It is certain that the economic situation has important implications in the sector. The most common measures we face are putting the planned projects on hold or narrowing their scope. However, thanks to our wide product and customer portfolio, the positive effects of the advantage created by the exchange rate effect on our exporting customers were the most important factors in achieving our targets.

Zorlu geçen 2018 yılı ilk yarıyıl dönemine oranla 2019 ilk yarıyıl cirolarınızdaki artış oranları nedir?

Rockwell Automation global olarak 6.66 milyar dolar ciroya sahiptir. Her ne kadar dünyada süregelen ticaret savaşları bir belirsizlik yaratmış olsa da 2018 yılı bizim için güzel bir yıl oldu. Geçen yıl organik satışlarımız yüzde 7,3 oranında artış gösterdi. 2019 yılına ise güzel bir başlangıç yaparak yılın ilk çeyreğini yüzde 5,7’lik büyüme ile kapattık.

What are the increase rates in your 2019 first half turnover compared to the challenging first half of 2018?

Rockwell Automation has a global turnover of $ 6.66 billion. 2018 was a good year for us although trade wars in the world created uncertainty. Our organic sales increased by 7.3 percent last year. We made a good start to 2019 and closed the first quarter of the year with 5.7 percent growth.

İleriye yönelik yatırımlarını ve projeleriniz var mıdır? Varsa bu projelerinizden bahseder misiniz?

PTC, IoT konusuna ilgi duyan birçok kişinin tanıdığı ve çözümlerini kullandığı bir firmadır. IoT konusunda lider bu firma ile geçtiğimiz yılın ikinci yarısında bir ortaklık anlaşması imzaladık. Bu süreçte Rockwell Automation olarak 1 milyar dolarlık bir yatırım gerçekleştirdik. Bu anlaşma kapsamında PTC’den yüzde 9,1 hissesini satın alarak ortaklığı başlattık. Bu ortaklık ile birlikte FactoryTalk yazılım platformumuzun en yeni üyesi “FactoryTalk InnovationSuite” geliştirildi ve şu anda piyasada. Bu yazılımımız ile üretim sistemlerindeki operasyonlara yapay zeka/makine öğrenmesi, veri analitiği çözümleri ve artırılmış gerçeklik uygulamalarını entegre etmek ve ERP’den herhangi marka bir otomasyon cihazına çeşitli veri kaynaklarını tek bir arayüzde toplayarak göstermek mümkün.

2019 yılı içerisindeki bir başka yatırımımız da Emulate3D isimli özellikle sanal ikiz uygulamaları konusunda uzman bir İngiliz firmasını bünyemize katmak olmuştur. Böylece müşterilerimize bu konularda da çözüm sunabilmekteyiz.

Do you have any future investments and projects? If so, could you tell us about your projects?

PTC is a company which is known and used by many people who are interested in IoT. We signed a partnership agreement with this leading IoT company in the second half of last year. In this process, Rockwell Automation made a $ 1 billion investment. Under this agreement, we started the partnership by acquiring 9.1 percent of the shares from PTC. With this partnership, the newest member of the FactoryTalk software platform “FactoryTalk InnovationSuite” was developed and is currently on the market. With this software, it is possible to integrate artificial intelligence / machine learning, data analytical solutions and augmented reality applications into operations in production systems and to show various data sources from ERP to any automation device by gathering them in a single interface.

Another investment in 2019 was to include a British company called Emulate3D, which specializes in virtual twin applications, to our structure. Thus, we are able to provide solutions to our customers in these matters.

Şirketin genel müdürü olarak önümüzde 5 yıl içerisinde Rockwell Automation Türkiye’yi büyüme olarak nereye taşımayı hedefliyorsunuz? Projeksiyonunuz nedir?  

Rockwell Automation Türkiye olarak ülkemizdeki otomasyon pazarının büyümeye devam edeceğini ve etmesi gerektiğini düşünüyoruz. Ülke olarak rekabetçiliğimizin artması için üretim verimliğimizin, ürün kalitemizin daha iyi seviyelere çıkması için otomasyon ve bilgi çözümleri uygulamalarının artmasına ve yaygınlaşmasına ihtiyacımız var. Ürettiğimiz makinaların daha akıllı makinalar olması ve bu makinaların dünyanın en iyi makina üreticileri ile teknolojik yönden yarışabilir düzeye gelmesi şart. Globalde yaptığımız partnerlikler, şirket satınalmaları, araştırma-geliştirme yatırımları da müşterilerimizi bu hedeflerine taşımak için gerekli teknolojiyi geniş portföyde sunabilme gücünü veriyor bize. Hedefimiz ülke ekonomisiyle birlikte büyümeye devam etmenin yanı sıra 115 yıllık tecrübemizle ve ihtiyaca yönelik çözümlerimizle ülkemiz sanayicisinin olduğu her yere ulaşmak ve ekonomimizin gelişmesine destek olmaktır.

As of the company’s general manager, where do you aim to move Rockwell Automation Turkey ahead as growth in 5 years? What is your projection?

As Rockwell Automation Turkey, we believe that the automation market in our country  will continue to grow and it should be. In order to increase our competitiveness as a country and to increase our production efficiency and product quality to better levels, we need to increase and spread automation and information solutions applications. The machines we produce must be smarter machines and these machines must be able to compete technologically with the world’s best machine manufacturers. Global partnerships, company acquisitions, research and development investments give us the power to offer the required technology which is necessary to carry our customers to these goals, in a broad portfolio. Our goal is to continue to grow together with the country’s economy as well as to reach every place where our country’s industrialists with 115 years of experience and needs-oriented solution, and to support the development of our economy.
